Dr. Lilly Achayo
Lilly is currently pursuing a Master in Public Health at Makerere University and holds a bachelors of Medicine (MBchB) from Mbarara University of Science and Technology, she attended Trinity College Nabingo and St. Mary’ College Aboke in Lira District for her Advanced and Ordinary level school respectively.
She has been a member of rewards and sanctions committee with Busia District Local Government, member District Contracts Committee - Busia DLG a member of Busia Greater Lions Club and General Secretary Uganda Medical Association Elgon branch.
Dr. Lilly has been awarded with PEPFAR HERO’s Award for helping Women and children live healthy and productive lives through increased institutional deliveries; reduced maternal deaths; improved care for HIV positive mothers and their babies leading to a decline in percentage of children borne with HIV from 10% in 2013 to 2% in 2016 by the US. EMBASSY (USAID), Kampala in December 2016 and Certificate of appreciation for the remarkable contribution in the implementation of reproductive health services in the Public sector from PACE in November 2016
Lilly currently works as Deputy Health Manager at International Rescue Committee –Yumbe, Uganda where she is responsible for coordinating implementation of health and nutrition program in the Bidibidi Refugee settlement in Yumbe district. She has also served as a Technical Advisor for Doctors with Africa - CUAMM in Amudat district, served as the District Health Officer, Busia District Local Government, worked as the Ag. Medical Superintendent at Masafu Referral General Hospital, worked as the Medical Officer at Masafu hospital, the same position she also held at Lira Medical Centre where she remarkably improved the uptake of maternal health services through strengthening comprehensive emergency obstetric and neonatal care and as a medical intern doctor at Lira regional referral hospital
Lilly possess good communication skills, team leadership and coordination abilities and possesses Knowledge in health system strengthening. She is analytical and holds very high values to integrity. She communicates in English fluently, NgaKarimojong and also in written.
Dr. Lilly has directly fought cholera in Busia district during the outbreak given her professional background and responsibility and she believes in preventive approaches to water and sanitation related diseases. She brings a wealth of experience to the Board of Get Water Uganda in relation to organizational and human resources management and with a rich experience in health–related programing.
